Family Week, 15-21 May
The United Nations General Assembly declared May 15 as "International Day of Families" with a resolution on September 20, 1993, and it has been celebrated worldwide and in our country since 1994. The week including May 15-21 is recognized as "Family Week".

The fundamental aim behind the designation of May 15 as International Day of Families is to protect and strengthen families. It involves increasing awareness about families among all segments of society, promoting activities that support families, assisting families in fulfilling their social responsibilities, and providing all possible protections and assistance to families.

With the changes in family life and the growing problems associated with it, such as breakdowns in traditional Turkish families, generational differences, a significant increase in divorce rates, and the increasing number of parentless children, the need for assistance to families is growing.

Considering the vital importance of a thriving family and marital life for individual happiness and societal development, it is certain that unhealthy and unhappy families will raise unhealthy and unhappy children. Since the foundation of society is the family, the importance of awareness, enlightenment, and healthy family relationships cannot be overlooked in raising mentally sound and happy generations.

Before individuals decide to marry and form a family, they must reach maturity and free themselves from dependency on their families. For someone who cannot achieve this, the responsibility of starting a family may be burdensome. Increasing incidents of violence against women, child marriages, and divorce rates in recent years are urgent issues that require immediate intervention.
